A new study highlights a surprising fact – your vehicle is actually over 2,000% filthier. If you’re finding yourself constantly ill (or find that your children keep getting sick), it may be time for a complete interior detailing.
Why Are Cars So Dirty?
Most people never think about doing more than cleaning the visible dirt in their car, even if their car is spotless inside and out. Because of that, they don’t really realize how many surfaces in their car that they touch day-to-day, such as the stick shift, the ignition, and the steering wheel.
People have a tendency to “live” in their cars – doing everything from eating to finishing their makeup – and that means touching their hands to their face. They also use their cars even when they are ill, almost never wash their hands when getting into or out of their vehicle.
Is a Dirty Car Interior Dangerous?
The study didn’t just find ordinary germs; it also found germs such as MRSA which can contribute to lifelong bacterial infections. Essentially, anything that’s on you or your passengers is in your car and it may grow and thrive in there.
Many illnesses can be passed from person to person through a vehicle, which often goes unconsidered. This could be especially true for people who have compromised immune systems, like children and the elderly. Ultimately being cleaner plays a significant role in overall health.
So what’s the solution to a filthy car? Probably a professional clean. Most people simply aren’t equipped to deal with a dirty car because they don’t have the tools necessary to wipe it down and sanitize it.
By keeping your environment clean, you can reduce the chances that you and your family might become ill.
