Can you get pulled over? Many times people drive along with the fear of getting pulled over by hidden police officers who are waiting for the best moment to catch bad drivers.
Use eTags© to Quickly Complete Your DMV Service. Renewals, Title Transfers and More, All Online!
The fact is that many people relate to that feeling of confusion every time they see the flashing lights of a police car through the rear window.
You don’t know whether the policing is chasing you or going after the car in front of you. After all, you don’t recall making any infractions and that adds more fuel to the uncertainty.
Perhaps you did something wrong while driving your vehicle, but you were just not aware of it. Don’t worry! Here are 20 common traffic stop questions that could save you a ticket.
#1 Can you get a ticket without being pulled over?
The answer is yes. You can get tickets without actually being pulled over by a police officer. But it all depends on the state where you are driving.
For example, many states have red light cameras that automatically take images of vehicles running a red light. That picture serves as sufficient evidence for the authorities to determine that a driver has made an infraction.
Another example are speed cameras that are placed strategically to snap a picture of any vehicle that exceeds the speeding limits.
Pay also attention to toll cameras that can easily take picture of vehicles that do not pay their toll fare.

#2 Can you get pulled over for not wearing seatbelt?
For safety reasons, drivers should buckle up each and every time they are behind the wheel. At least know that it could save your life or reduce the injury in a car accident.
There are multiple awareness campaigns and laws about wearing seatbelt across the country, but the law differs from state to state.
For example, not wearing a seatbelt in Florida is against the law and you could be pulled over if caught by the police.
In Pennsylvania, on the other hand, not wearing a seatbelt is treated like a secondary offence. That means you could only get a ticket if the police pulls you over for another infraction and finds that you were not wearing a seatbelt.
#3 Can you get pulled over for tinted windows?
Yes, you can get pulled over depending on your location. Each state has its own vehicle window tinting regulations and there’s no excuse for you to have it if your local state determines that some type of tinted windows are against the law.
In California, for example, police officers pulls over vehicles with tinted windshield (except for the strip at the very top), and the front side windows.
Generally, it’s all about the level of luminance and light transmissions that apply to your tinted windows. Check with your local state to see what’s the minimum amount of light that can come through your tinted window under the law.
#4 Can I get a speeding ticket without being pulled over?
No. You can’t get a ticket without being pulled over for speeding. However it happens that your local authority could use speeding cameras to determine whether you sped illegally.
It’s rather controversial because most states have different ways of implementing the use of speeding cameras to track exceeding speed limits.
For example, Florida has no way of issuing you a speeding ticket without the intervention of a police officer. Arizona, on the other hand, can use speeding cameras to enforce the law without police intervention.
Check with your local authority.
#5 Can you get pulled over for a broken or cracked windshield?
Driving with a broken or cracked windshield puts the driver in complete danger. So expect to get a ticket if pulled over by a police officer for broken or cracked windshield.
Again, cracked or obstructed laws varies from state to state. In Florida, for example, vehicles are required to have a windshield that is in an upright and fixed position.
In California, your vehicle must have a windshield, however antique or classic vehicles that were sold without a windshield do not require to have a windshield.

#6 Can you get DUI without getting pulled over?
No. You cannot be pulled over if there’s no authority to verify your alcohol levels. To be stopped for DUI and even arrested, a police officer needs to pull you over under a reasonable suspicion.
At the same time the police officer needs to perform a field sobriety, preliminary alcohol screening, and other tests that require face-to-face interaction.
#7 Can you get pulled over for driving without a shirt?
Driving topless, believe it or not, is a road violation that gives enough reason to a police officer to pull you over and issue a ticket for bad driving.
These type of charges are named “Indecent Exposure.” It may go against equality but women are facing more risk to get a ticket for driving topless.
In Utah, for example, it is against the law for women to show “the female breast below the areola” in a public area. It doesn’t matter if you consider your vehicle to be a private place, you could be explaining your case in court.
#8 Can you get pulled over for tinted tail lights?
Know that tinted or smoked tail lights are illegal. Expect to be pulled over by the police and be charged a fine for not adjusting to the state law.
The question is if there is any lawful purpose in darkening or dimming your tail lights? The thing is that there is no reason why you should do that.
At the same time, liabilities for getting caught driving with tinted tail lights vary from state to state.
#9 Can cops get pulled over?
Can a police officer pull over another policer officer? Of course it could happen and it is matter of professional courtesy. This also gives signals that the rules are out there for everyone to comply.
Police officers are supposed to be 100% enforcers and should operate by giving examples of good civic behavior.
In practical terms, it may be very unlikely to see that on a daily basis, even more when they have to speed up for major emergencies.
#10 Can I get pulled over for no reason?
Don’t worry. Police can’t pulled you over without a valid reason. Police officers are not allowed to randomly pull you over and look for drugs in your vehicle.
Know that police officers need to have a reason, or a “probable cause” like cracked windshield or speeding to stop you. The duty of the police is to provide notes and reasons for pulling you over.
If given a valid reason, follow the rules and be informed about your rights as a driver.

#11 Can you get booked without being pulled over?
No, you can’t. You need to be pulled over by the police before getting booked.
To get booked, say for DUI arrest, a police officer typically collects personal information, tracks records about the incident, makes background check, takes fingerprints, confiscates personal property, and places custody.
#12 Can you get pulled over by an unmarked police car?
Yes, you can get pulled over by an unmarked police car. There’s no legal prohibition against a police officer from conducting a pullover in these circumstances.
There is no restriction as it is part of their duty. Even an off-duty out-of-uniform officer still has the right to arrest someone suspected on incurring any traffic violations.
The law is the law, and police officers are required to be in duty 24/7.
#13 Can you get pulled over for missing a side window?
In this case, the answer depends on what state you are driving in. Traffic laws vary from state to state and that also applies to safety equipment law.
So if your state requires that a car have one or two-sided view mirrors, and of them is broken, you can easily be pulled over and receive a ticket.
At the same time, many states issues “Fix-It” tickets which could be reduced or waived if the problem is fixed within a set time period.
#14 Can you get pulled over for smoking a cigarette?
No, technically, you can’t get pulled over. It is not against the law to smoke while driving, nor can the police pull you over for smoking cigarettes, having a bite, changing the radio station.
However, keep in mind that you could commit a distracted driving offence and that could potentially have a negative impact on your driving record.
Traffic laws are getting tougher across the country and don’t be surprised to see new changes in distracted driving.
#15 Can cops see your driving records when getting pulled over?
Yes. Once you give them any form of identification, including driver’s license, they can access your driving status to check any information in regards to your driving history.
If you are pulled over, they could have access not only to your driving record, but also to any probation or parole status, caution indicators, and warrant status. Fast and easy.

#16 Can I get arrested for not pulling over for an ambulance or emergency vehicle?
No, you can’t. But most states have already implemented “Mover Over” laws, forcing drivers to let siren vehicles pass.
Motorists, who do not slow down or move to another lane to let emergency vehicles pass, could be pulled over by a police officer and pay a fine.
In California, for example, drivers must make way for emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Failure to do so, expect a fine of at least $146, with one point on your record.
#17 Can I get out of my car when I get pulled over?
No. For security reasons you better stay in the car. Remember that police officers are humans, and getting out of your vehicle right after being pulled over could give them a very bad impression.
Stay calm and sit still. Put your hands on your steering wheel and do not give reasons to let them think you are a threat. Police officers do not want you to leave your vehicle right after pulling over, so do not rush the procedure.
Consenting a search on your vehicle is completely up to you. Unless there’s a probable cause that allows them to search your vehicle, you don’t have to consent it.
#18 Can I get pulled over for a wrecked front end?
No, you can’t. You won’t get a ticket for driving a damaged vehicle as long as your vehicle meets the minimum legal standards for being on the road.
Damaged vehicles are a result of a car accident. Once you are involved in a car accident, the police determines whether your vehicle is legally functional to be on the road or not.
That’s how they track vehicles for safety reasons.
#19 Can I buy car insurance as I get pulled over?
No, you can’t buy an insurance as you get pulled over. Once the driver commits an infraction, it is too late for the driver to start shopping for a new insurance.
Police officers can easily get information about auto insurance from a statewide database on their cars. If it shows that you are/were uninsured, expect to get penalized for driving without auto insurance.

#20 Can I get pulled over if someone stole my car tag?
Yes, you can get pulled over for that. It’s completely against the law to drive a vehicle with expired tags and expect to get a fix-it ticket for not getting a replacement.
If your tags were stolen, you’ll have to report it to you local DMV and request and order replacement. However, getting a replacement may come with a fee, so contact your local DMV to know what those fees are.

I have a question about Texas Constables. Today one flashed his lights at me because i was going 67 in a 55 but didnt pull me over. Can i still get a ticket in the mail for speeding? I fear about him having his dashcan going and getting my plates and being able to. Im only 17 so this will suspend my license until im 21 and I am panicking.
Hey there, eTags handles registrations and titles and we don’t operate in Texas. It’d be best if you researched law enforcement in Texas to find answers.
I got pulled over 2 days ago for yelling out my window to a cop, telling him to watch what he’s doing. (He was in my lane, no emergency lights on, and almost caused me to hit him). I don’t believe this is a reason to be pulled over, although, I watch the officer commit an illegal u-turn in order to pull me over. Upon getting out his car he was cussing and acting completely unprofessional. He started looking for things he could site me for, more specifically, my tinted windows, and windshield. I have 6 inches tinted on the windshield. Questions, was him pulling me over justified? And can if not, can any other ticket or citation stand?
This is a specific case so we can’t really comment. However, as far as the tint on your car, different states allow for different percentages. Here you’ll find those specifications https://www.raynofilm.com/blog/automotive-window-tint-laws-by-state
Can a police officer show up at my house and say that they saw I was driving under suspension and ticket me?
eTags handles title and registrations for vehicles, but according to lawyers online, the answer is yes. Check out this website.

So the not getting a speeding ticket without being pulled over with no speed cameras or tolls is that still relevant to Florida? I’ve done a large amount of research before I found this website and some said yes and a couple said no. Can I get some clarity on that? Or what’s best to see if I did get a ticket or not besides waiting by the mailbox?
You may want to talk to a company that deals with traffic violations..you can check out this blog https://www.theticketclinic.com/blog/fighting-red-light-camera-ticket-florida-2020
Got pulled over because he ran my plate. He said my license is suspended. I have not had a license in Washington. You don’t need a driver’s liscense unless you are regulating income. Kinda like a business liscense. Is it true they have to have a good reason to pull you over. I have never had a liscense in Washington. And they said my liscense is susnded. How can they suspendsomething I never got
States communicate with each other, so the info can be coming from another state. Best to get legal advice.
Can a hallway patrol give you a speeding ticket without evidence.
Yes they can.
Is it legal for a cop to pull you over without his lights being on.
Here’s an article from business insider on the topic… https://www.businessinsider.com/what-rights-do-you-have-when-pulled-over-2013-11
Can the police pull you over for speeding if you are behind them slowing down on the highway in the state of florida?
If the cop can determine that you were speeding than yes.
My tags have recently expired. I am disabled so my son drives me everywhere. If we get stopped, who gets the ticket? Me or my son? He doesn’t know they’re expired. I have a critical doctor’s appointment tomorrow.
ion order to drive on state roads, you have to have a car registration and renew within deadline. So yes, it’s possible to get a ticket.

I have 3 ticket and one of them is reckless driving and i have to appear In court. I’m not responsible for that ticket because I dudo drive the car that day. What can I do.? I’m afeaid I’m lose más diving privileges. I live in NJ.
Sorry to hear about your hardships, but unfortunately eTags doesn’t operate in New Jersey.
I live in New Orleans, La.
Can the Police pull you over to check to see if you have a valid driver’s license to drive on city streets..
Hi Donald, thanks for your question. We would like to start by saying that you should refer and confirm legal questions and advice to a lawyer. One who practices in your state and has intimate knowledge of the laws there is even better. That being said, you can be stopped in Louisiana if the officer has reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. As an example, if the vehicle’s tag number was run by the officer and the registered owner is listed as having a suspended license, there might be reasonable suspicion. We implore you to seek legal counsel for definitive assistance on this. Best of Luck.
I’m in Alabama if a cop have someone pulled over and u come pass not speeding can the cop pull u over for not murging an he was on the passenger side
Hello Corey. That would depend on whether there’s an enforced move over law in your state. Vehicles passing through at high speeds may be pulled over upon discretion of the police.
I got pulled over for speeding, the officer then asked me the reason for speeding. I told him we just found out my dad had stage 4 cancer and I wasn’t thinking straight. He said sorry but then said I was still getting a citation, and that it was issued before he came to talk to so he can’t change it. Is that allowed? And why even ask the reason if the reason don’t matter. I was in Dallas Texas, we just got the bad news and travel there. He said I can appeal in court but why would I fly back to just appeal a ticket.
Hello Angel. If you’ve received a citation you will need get back to either appeal in court or follow up with your case. If you feel the incident was handled unfairly, you should seek for legal advice. Good luck.
My bf and I switched drivers at a gas station. 30 minutes later we are pulled over. Officers reasoning is because i ran a stop sign. Said he was going to let it go but since we switched drivers he didnt. My bf was now driving and no traffic violation had occured. We both got a dui. Can that hold up in court?
Hello Amy. Unfortunately, we cannot advise you on legal matters since your case falls out of our area expertise. You will need to discuss it with a legal expert. Good luck.
Hello, I was wondering something about out of state incidents. I was traveling in NC to VA. A VA officer saw me make an infraction in NC. He did not pull me over at any time, but followed for for a bit. Can he issue me an infraction in VA at a later time?
Thank you!
Hello Barrett. Police officers may act upon discretion whenever they spot someone breaking the law. Refer to your local police station for further information about your case.
If I get pulled over, but I don’t get a ticket because the cop had to go and do something more important(they were planning on giving me one) would that show up any where on my insurance or affect it in anyway?
Hello Jay. We cannot advice you on an incident where we cannot have a clear insight of what really happened between all the parties involved. You may need to check your driving record to find out more about your current profile.
I work a delivery driver and rely on gps navigation to get me around one day while working I got pulled by the police. When the officer walked to the side of my car I said “you must have seen me fondling with my cell phone” my new cell phone holder has a base that’s sets in cuoholder in center counsel. Which puts the phone where a stick shift would be. The officer says he pulled me over for “unsafe lane change” . He ended up giving me a ticket for being on my cell phone which I was not. But he did write “driver advised on unsafe lane change” in the comments section of the ticket. Should i fight this?
Hello Dan. Unfortunately, we cannot advise on legal matters since it is out of our expertise. But if you feel it was rather unfair, you should take all the actions required to dispute the outcome. It worth mentioning that in some states using a mobile phone while driving is considered a secondary infraction. Hence, you could get a ticket for using your phone if being pulled over for another reason.
Hello I have a question not sure if you could help… I was driving home with a Friend one day from work and I was literally about 5-7 minutes away from home. There’s one traffic light on that same strip to the apartment, while at the light the officer pulls up on the opposite side of the intersection traffic light . My green light turned first then the cops light changed as well and they came behind me. It actually was an undercover car suv type, so as I’m driving after I crossed over the traffic light I’m about 5 minutes from my destination . I pull in my apartments , the undercover car is still following me, also want to point out the fact that I didn’t even know it was officer!! I just thought it was regular suv.. so as I pull in I locate a parking spot and parked the car, turned the car off, I grabbed a bottle of Hennessy that I had just purchase and some other things like my charger, phone, sodas etc, and put it all in one bag. This process took about 15 minutes, I also had not seen the suv (undercover) since I parked! So Ive Locked my car and have completely walked away from the car literally in front of the apartments entry door about to grab the handle when I heard sirens, lights flashing and a officer speaking through the outside intercom of the police vehicle . I noticed the officer was stopping us me and one other person , she tried charging the friend that was with me with driving the car and stated she only saw one person because I told her that my friend was not driving but.. she insisted that it was him but said she must be mistaken …. it took her over 20-25 minutes to stop/pull me over . Is lt legal for her to stop me while im no longer in the car or near the car? Although my tags were expired she didn’t have accurate information for question two of us and didn’t know who was driving so is that legal ?
Hello John. From the information you have provided you may need to seek for legal advice and provide further details about your case. We cannot guide you on a case that falls out of our area of expertise. Good luck!
Got seatbelt ticket in the mail but never got pulled over I live in Oregon , is this legit!?
Hello Nick. You might need legal advice on this as this field is out of our expertise. Yet, Oregon has primary seat belt laws which means you can get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.
I didn’t come to a complete stop at an intersection (MN). With the windows down, I heard a cop on the phone parked yelling at me that I didn’t stop. When I heard them, I looked over and they just continued to talk on the phone not going into their vehicle or anything. Will I get a ticket?
Hello Mike. You will need to wait and see if you are getting a vehicle but we cannot give you an answer as we do not know the entire context of the incident. Be always prepared to follow the rules to avoid getting tickets.
I was driving on the interstate in West Virginia and was doing the correct speed. I was in the right lane and saw a car on the sholder. As I pass the car I realize it was a police car that did not have any emergency lights on. He pulled out on the interstate pulled around the car behind me and pulled me over. He gave me a ticket because I did not adhere to the “move over law” ,from what I have been told that applies to emergency vehicles with their lights flashing but I could be wrong but I need a little more info to contest my ticket
Hello Katherine. In WV, the move over law is quite strict and you are required to move over to the adjacent lane once you notice an emergency vehicle around.
Can you be issued a ticket by mail for speeding and crossing a yellow line In the state of Massachusetts without an officer pulling you over. Visibly seeing you do this. Issuing the tickets based of what someone called in an said
Hello Sean. We cannot provide expertise on traffic law in Massachusetts but there are some states who allow residents to report traffic violations in their area.
I’ve went out this evening (around 11pm) to grab a hamburger since I’d been cleaning the house all day due to adult children visiting tomorrow. I’d was driving on a four lane (2 lane going each direction) road which connects one small town to another (about 4-5 miles which is heavily populated with fast food, gas stations, and a few neighborhoods, etc the entire way). Almost as soon as I pulled onto the road, a police SUV got in behind my car – police from the town in the direction I was driving to but where I currently was located was OUT of their jurisdiction. There were other vehicles on the road but the police SUV followed me the entire way to Burger King following close behind me even though I was driving the 35mph speed limit. Even when I slowed down the vehicle refused to pass me.
I pulled into Burger King; it took about 10 minutes to make it through the drive-through window as they were busy. I don’t know why but I had a gut feeling that SUV was going to pull out behind me again as I was leaving, even though the Burger King was NOT in the town limits of their jurisdiction. As I pulled out and headed home, TWO police cars pulled came out of nowhere it seemed and followed close behind me. Since this is a road where vehicles travel in both of the lanes every minute, every day due to the 35mph limit and the constant turns to enter the numerous businesses on the left and right, I pulled into the left lane thinking they would pass me, leave me alone. I drove slow at 25mph to play it safe. Half way home the blue lights turned on so I pulled over. The police in the SUV never got out of the car but the office in the car did. He approached my window, said he was a state trooper and asked for my license and registration. I asked what I was had been pulled over for. He replied, “You were driving in the left lane and going too slow for the flow of traffic.” I stated in response, “First of all, why did Waynesboro officers pull in behind me at a place a good 5 miles from their town of jurisdiction and follow close behind my vehicle the entire drive to my destination which was Burger King.” “And then to make the situation more alarming, the Waynesboro police hid while I waited for my food, called you to come pull me over because they were still out of their jurisdiction at the Burger King, which warranted you to rush over and jump on their sniffing out a caper of a 60 year old woman with little to no hair because she forgot to put on her wig (due to pituitary tumor) and had committed the horrendous crime of driving at 11pm to get herself a hamburger because she’d been too busy to eat during the day.” “Second, since when is it against the law to on this particular road drive in the left hand lane, and since when is it against the law to drive at 25mph in a 35mph zone?”
He wrote me a ticket for just what he said he would. However, his eyes got HUGE when I told him the car was not registered in my name it was registered in my husband’s name who is an attorney in the area and has been for 35 years. When he went back to his car and spoke with the police in the SUV who started the entire mess, they took off toward the town of jurisdiction where they should have been in the first place rather than harassing me. The officer told me he only gave me the ticket because I talked back to him/gave him attitude. By the way, the officer was maybe 25-28 years old.
Hello Barb. From the information you have provided, it is difficult to ascertain if there is something you should’ve done to deal with this situation. You will get further guidance if you share your experience with legal experts. They will be able to inform you in more detail what really happened. Good luck.
Can a police officer in Illinois pull me over because someone called and said i ran a red light..and then not give me a ticket for the red light but gave me a ticket for illegal tints on my windows instead..is this legal?
Hello Mark. Police officers tend to stop drivers for many reasons and they also apply their own judgement when they notice someone driving recklessly. Unfortunately, we cannot give you further advice as it is not our area of expertise, but here is a link about law enforcement in IL that may answer you question.
I got pulled over for my light on my license plate being out. But it wasnt out it was dim but not out i took a video of it as soon as i got home. This happened at 11:30 at night. he told me thats why he pulled me over now my issue is my license is supsended for still owing on fine i got awhile back n couldnt pay because i lost my job. Its the first time id driven since it was suspended but i really had no other choice at the moment. Now with all that being said my question is can i get the drivung under suspension taken off because the light was not actually burned out. So basically he pulled me over for no reason and as far as I know you can not be pulled over for no reason correct. So do i have a case here and a chance to have the driving under suspension removed for falsely pulling me over? Also is the video i took after i got home from being pulled over good evidence to prove my light wasnt out my ticket is time stamped n my video is time stamped there are no store open around me that i could have went and bought a new one then videod it n its dim so a new one would be alot brighter. I know i shouldnt have drove knowing i was suspended but i really had no choice at the time.
Hello Renee. Unfortunately, we cannot give you any advice on things that involves legal matters. You will need to discuss it with an attorney who will give you further guidance. Good luck.
Hi. I was driving past a cop who had pulled someone over on the right side next to a light. I was making sure not to hit the cop because his body was occupying the center lane. I didn’t notice the light turn red at that time and I ran it but I thought I barely ran the red. I got home safe. Will I get a ticket later?
Thanks
Hello. From the information you have provided, it is very difficult to determine whether you are going to receive a ticket as that would depend on many factors. In the future, be more focused on the road and watch for traffic signals and road signs.
I live in an area where the cops harass black people. I’ve been pulled over about 23 times, and I have not received a ticket. What they will do is follow me for so many miles, practically tail gating my car. When they tail gate my car, I find this to be very very aggressive, so I will often times pull over and stop driving, as its nerve racking as heck. The four times that I pulled over, or into a parking lot, or a store, the cop car would follow me, and then ask why I pulled over. He would put on his lights AFTER we were both stopped. I would tell him, that I felt uncomfortable since he was tailgating me, and waiting for him to leave. They would ask for my license and registration anyway, I guess to check my record, since all black people have a record right? And typically they give me back my stuff, and drive off. This happens a lot where I live. I think they are just looking for a reason to pull me over, so they can check my record.
A few cops have lied and said I did something I didnt do. And they were really dumb about it, and end up not giving me a ticket for their false accusation. But most times, they pull me over, ask me for my registration and license, and then let me go.
my question is, if they are following me and tailgating me for miles and miles, and then, they dont pull me over, and when I decide to pull over and I am walking into the store or whatever, when they put on their lights after the fact, do you think that would really hold up in court? I mean if i was doing something bad, then why did it take them like 10 miles to figure it out and have to tailgate me? i guess this is why I havent gotten a ticket its just harassment , but still I am wondering about the pull over thing.
Hello Sandy. We are unable to provide legal advice on this type of situation as it is an area far from our expertise. You may learn more about your case by speaking to an attorney. Good luck.
I was pulled over for harassing another driver and don’t see how this is a traffic violation especially when I’m only letting him know that he is a bad driver and should take the bus. He goes the same route I do every morning and when leaving work so every morning and afternoon I would flash my headlights at him and honk. Today I was pulled over by police even though I reported him earlier as a terrible driver. How is this harassment. The officer claims that if this motorist crashes I could be arrested instead of him when he is the one who is distracted by the horn and flashing headlights. I am only letting him know that he is a terrible driver and it is his responsibility to pay attention and if he crashes how would this be my fault? Would I also be at fault if while flipping me off he didn’t pay attention and crashed? This is upsurd.
Hello Dannielle. If you spot an erratic driver, the best thing you could ever do is to ignore them. By engaging with the other driver, you are also putting your safety at risk.
Hey so I had a question. But first let me tell you what happened I was going a roundabout in a neighborhood the posted speed was 25 MPH I was going 5 over. I was in the wrong. Anyway there was a police officer on the side walk with those police radar. But I slowed down before I got there they didn’t move or anything. Could I get a speeding ticket from them? I don’t know what Utah does with speed tickets.
Hello Andrew. We cannot assure you are going to receive a ticket but you could’ve been pulled over had they noticed you driving over the limit. Follow the rules and you won’t be worried about it.
I was driving down a curved road, and admittedly I was zooming, (78 in a 45) and I got ka band on my radar and when I turned I noticed a cop popped a uturn, and started following in my direction, I drove through a neighborhood when he caught up to me at another light, yet didn’t pull me over. Is there anything I should be worried about, because it was very obvious he was trying to find me… but I never got lit up.
Hello Ben. It depends on the situation and we cannot guarantee the police officer was trying to pull you over. You are strongly advised to follow the norms with caution to avoid future complications.
Hi, I was driving home and I was about to cross the last light when it turned red, the cops were behind me since the police station is nearby, so I freaked out for no reason and speeded instead of stopping but I didn’t cross the red light, Can I still get a ticket for that?
Hello Edith. It would be complicated to give you a yes or no answer as we have no evidence of the real situation. You are strongly advised to follow the traffic signs accordingly to avoid future infractions.
My friends and I were admittedly being dumb, but just driving around in circles and stuff in an empty Costco parking lot at night. No donuts or anything as it was a front wheel drive car and we aren’t quite that dumb. I don’t think the night employees were happy with the that though, and one car (maybe security) was kind of following us so we took the hint and stopped and left. Can they still try to give me a ticket through security cameras even though we didn’t hit anything or do any actual damage? Thanks!
Hello Stephen. We cannot give you legal advice on the reason why they should or shouldn’t give you a ticket for that particular situation. In case you receive a ticket, contact an attorney for further assistance.
I got pulled over today in a school zone ( doing 36 in a 25 when school zone flashes ) but the lights weren’t on to indicate the school zone was on but everyone on the other side (next to the school) was doing over 25 and no on one my side was doing 25 so I thought since the school zone lights weren’t on and the cars weren’t doing 25 then i obviously go the actaul speed limit for that road (40) and so when I got pulled over he told me the lights were on and that on the other side the lights weren’t working so that’s why he didn’t pull anyone over over there so I picked up my friend and did a loop and had her record the lights to prove they weren’t on (and they weren’t ) so can I get charged with that speeding in a school zone if the lights weren’t flashing ?
Hello Ashleigh. That would be a question that you could only discuss with your local authority as we cannot provide legal guidance on a situation that needs deeper analysis. Yet you could always dispute any infraction that you consider unfair. Here’s a link for more information about fighting tickets.
In Florida can a officer pull someone over just because they know that persons license are suspended?
Absolutely, a police officer can pull you over for driving with a suspended license. You are strongly advised to find ways to fix your suspension if you want to be authorized to be back on the roads.
A friend’ had called me at 2am in the morning to come pick her up and take her to her sisters house, because she was being kicked out off where she was living. I had pulled over at a hotel to text her for the directions 5 miles from where she was. I pulled in the entrance of hotel and stopped at the exit of the hotel, to text her to get directions. She texted me back, I was not setting there no longer than 10 min. As soon as she texted the directions back to me, i looked both ways before pulling out of the hotel and I seen a police car coming toward me on the highway. After he passed me before i could take my foot off the break to pull out onto the highway, the cop had already pulled into the hotel entrance and was behind me with his lights on. He came to my window and asked if i had anything in the vehicle illegal. I stated to him that I had my prescriptions drugs in there correct bottles on my person because i didn’t feel safe leaving them at home, because of my brother stealing my medicine in the past. He asked if I had been drinking, and I stated that i had 3 shots of Vodka about 3 hours before. He ask me to step out of the car, and he put a breath test in my mouth and told me to blow.I didn’t blow over the intoxicated level, but he charged me with DUI (combination of alcohol and presc drugs) i hadn’t taken any of my medication but one of them at 9:00 a.m that previous morning. I live in Alabama, and don’t really know the laws here. Would you say that he didn’t have probable cause to pull me over in the first place. Then charging me with a DUI, doesn’t it seem like he should have given me a urine or blood test to prove that at the time I had my prescription meds in my system? In your opinion were there any laws broken by the police officer for me to be able to have my case dismissed??? Anyone’s opinion would greatly be appreciated.
Hello Josh. Unfortunately, we cannot give you any advise on how things develop during the moment in which a police pulls you over, nor the procedures they use to identify a potential drunk driver. Though what you need to do is contact a legal adviser if you feel that you’ve got a ticket unfairly. Remember that the law varies from state to state. Good luck.
Can you be issued a ticket at a later date for running a stop sign if the PD has your vehicle on security camera footage, running the stop sign, but you didn’t get pulled over for the infraction?
Hello Katherine. A ticket for speeding, failure to yield, or failure to stop at a stop sign can cost you between $75 and $400 if caught by the police, depending on your state law and, sometimes, your driving record. Now when it comes to security cameras, you will need to contact your local DMV for more information about this type of monitoring in your local state.
Hello, I was going 50 on a 40 & a cop was following into my neighborhood, ( I did not know it was an officer until we both turned right into my neighborhood) I stopped in front of the mailboxes & he proceeded to drive past me , did he write me a ticket without me knowing ? I live in the state of Florida
Hello Michael. If you are not sure about your case, you are advised to contact the DMV and check your driving record to find out whether you received a ticket from that incident.
Can a police officer come to your home and write you a ticket based on saying he saw you days before driving and your vehicle has not been registered yet without actually ever pulling you over during the so-called time it was seen?
Hello Ron. You will need to be more specific on the example you are giving. Anyhow, you are strongly advised to get legal advice as you need some legal experts can give you more information about your rights in situations involving law enforcers.
Hello, i just pulled over today, i was doing 47mph in 35 zone it was morning and not much of a vehicle so i thought i was safe. It was my first time to pulled over so when the cop was chasing me i didn’t know it was me so when i stopped in the stop light he got out of the car and told me, so i pulled over. I also didn’t think it was me because i didn’t do anything wrong until he told me that i was driving fast. He didn’t give me a second chance he wrote me a ticket give me 4 points with 145 dollar fee. I feel bad because I’m a new driver and some of my friends got pulled over but the cop let them got away and give me them a second chance. Can i convince the judge not to give me points and pay lesser amount or not pay at all?
Hello Lyah. When it comes to disputing an infraction, you will have to discuss it with a court clerk and get legal advice as they have the required expertise to guide you on this particular matter.
My brother went 10 over in his neighborhood infront of a guard watching inmates doing community service, and the guard called a cop to go knock on his door and the cop gave his card to me and told me to tell my brother to call him
Hello Bob. You may need to look for legal advice and find out what his brother’s rights are. Good luck.
My daughter was caught under the influence of dui. While being handcuffed, her top went off showing her breast. She asked the police officer to put her Dre’s up cause she’s embarrassed. The cops refused to do it at the time and only did when reached the police station. What is her legal rights on that incident?
Hello Rudy. You will need to contact a lawyer to help you determine what you are entitled to when it comes to situations like this. Good luck.
What do I do if I get pulled over and there isn’t any space on the right side of the road? Will I be given instructions by the police?
Hello, Eric. You don’t have to pull over until you do it safely. If you cannot find a safe place to park your car, then notify the police giving a hand signal and drive the speed limit.
