We were just musing the other day about how when something new pops us, when a trend begins, there are usually two disparate camps of responses:

- The one side that immediately jumps on the bandwagon with full enthusiasm and support, come what may. And:
- The other side that criticizes, doubts, hems and haws, refutes, and refuses.
But if enough folks mosey on over to the acceptance side of said bandwagon, then the trend ceases to be a trend. It becomes something more. A marked phase, a style, a choice, and ultimately, a steadfast option that has morphed into an expected element people come to see as normal.
This process happens in fashion, in media, in politics, in design, in healthcare, in social norms. It is a journey that sees no difference when it comes to automobiles. Innovation is often met with resistance, whether or not the pushback is justified. And from where we are sitting, it’s a fascinating unfolding to observe.
Take the Electric Vehicle. These cars have undergone such a transformation, both in design and execution, and in terms of their level of acceptance in the automotive world.
Long gone are the days of the clunky, fighting-for-pickup Prius marking its buyers as hippies or tree-hugging folks with no need for speed.
Fast forward from 1997 to today, to 2025, and EV’s rule the roads. And not only have electric and hybrids become the norm (and may even be qualified for a government tax credit), but they’ve transformed into luxury items, collectibles, even. In fact, we were just checking out some of the top (read: most expensive) EV’s on the market, and came across Rolls Royce’s newest offer in the electric world: the 2025 Spectre.
Okay, not only is that name super cool (flashback to James Bond, anyone?) but it is a seriously chic ride with so many surprising attributes. So for our friends dabbling in the land of luxe EV’s, this article is for you. (And for everyone, really…we play no favorites!)
We’ve compiled some key aspects of the new and imporved 2025 Spectre in order to give you a decent overview of the ride and what you can expect from Rolls Royce’s latest upgrade on its electric coupe. And if this list doesn’t inspire you to try for a test ride, maybe nothing will?! (We kid…)
The Rolls Royce Spectre, while sporting one of the fattest price tags in the ultra-luxury EV category (this baby comes with a starting cost that is double of that of Tesla’s most expensive models) also comes with the most street cred. Perhaps we could say that the RR is the top of the “food chain” in the automotive world. And it ought to be, with a base cost of $422,000, customizable to upwards of $500,000 or more.
But here’s what you get for all those dollars:
- Four passenger, two-door coupe
- Incredibly silent ride
- Extensively lush, spacious interior with tons of perks and personalization options
- Rear-hinged doors (shock and awe element!)
- Touchscreen infotainment with an available bespoke stereo option
- Two motor, 577 horsepower
- Driving range of 291 miles on a single charge. But there is a twist in this aspect, as the mile range depends on what size wheels you choose. If you go with the standard wheels, you get 291 miles, but if you upgrade to the 23-inch wheel option, the mileage drops to 266 with the extra weight.
- Easy, smooth 0 to 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds. And while this is not the quickest acceleration speed in the EV world (Tesla might hold that badge), it is phenomenally fast for a coupe of its size and stateliness.
- 77 MPGe in the city, and 86MPGe on the highway
- DC fast charging
- A bunch of safety features, including:
- Auto emergency brakes
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane departure warning and lane keep assist
- Forward collision warning
- Blind spot monitoring
- Collision alerts
- Traction and stability control
- Wide coverage airbags
- Four-year warranty and maintenance package with no mileage limit
- The available Black Badge version of the coupe sports 73 more horsepower than standard, and features two uber-fun driving modes: Infinity and Spirited. Both of which reveal the car’s true acceleration capability
So if you happen to be in the market for an ultra-high-end electric vehicle, the Rolls Royce Spectre Black Badge could be just your thing.
While we haven’t test-driven this gorgeous ride personally, we’ve spent probably more time than we ought to perusing Rolls Royce’s sleek website, dreaming of what this ride might feel like.
