How to Transfer Your Title in Florida

At this time, eTags does not provide service to issue Florida titles for vessels, inherited vehicles, or when the original title cannot be furnished to complete the transfer. Trailers under 2,000 pounds do not need a title in Florida.

To complete your title transfer:

Download, print, and fill in the Application for Title form. If you would like to complete your forms online before printing them, use our Turbo Title software.
Compile the following documents:
1. Original Vehicle Title – If the original title is missing, a notarized bill of sale may be accepted by the DMV at their discretion. If the vehicle is a trailer under 2,000 pounds, the last issued registration card is used to transfer ownership.
2. Identification – Driver license, state ID, or passport
3. Optional: If the vehicle is being registered with Florida license plates, the insurance card.
4. Optional: If the vehicle is inherited, the owner's death certificate or a copy of the will, trust, or court order.
