The Florida DMV participates in the Electronic Lien and Title program. If you registered as an electronic lienholder, you can release the lien via the third-party vendor through which you would have registered the lien. You will be able to choose to just remove the lien and leave the title in electronic status, allowing the owner to request a printed title anytime in the future, or you may choose to remove the lien and print the title. For this option, you want to make sure to confirm the correct mailing address with your customer.
If the title is a paper title with a lien on it, you as the lienholder can request the title from the DMV. Once you receive the title, you can release the lien directly on the title or you can provide your customer with a lien release letter along with the title. They will then be able to request removal of the lien directly with the DMV.
If you are unsure of the title is held electronically or not, you can enter the VIN on this Florida DMV page: https://services.flhsmv.gov/MVCheckWeb/
