Our condolences for your loss. The Florida DMV, unlike DMVs in other states, does not (regularly) receive notifications regarding deceased vehicle owners. As such, you will be able to renew the registration without having to change or remove your husbands name. You can apply for a new title and registration to remove your husbands name if your name appears as the surviving spouse on the death certificate. If you do not appear on the death certificate as the surviving spouse, you'll need additional court documents, like those obtained through the probate process. When you are ready, you can visit any tax collector's office or tag agency to remove his name or go online to eTags.com and choose the option to transfer the title and registration. Wishing you all the best.
